Why does it feel like I have been reading this blinking book for years…..just over 100 pages left! I have no sympathy for the main characters and would love to give Becky & Amelia a big slap! There seems to be a parallel between me being stuck on this novel for the past few weeks and no decent films being released (blame Oscar). I might be forced to see the rehashed Ashley Judd movie ‘Twisted’. I am sure that it is just coincidence that it bares a striking resemblance to High Crimes, Double Jeopardy and Kiss the Girls – oh well roll on Kill Bill: Part Two.

So, Angel got it’s P45 last week and now there of mumblings about whether Enterprise will get renewed for a 4th Season. Well I got my fingers crossed that UPN will greenlight another season. Okay – it was rather slow to get going but so were its predecessors and I am enjoying my time in the Expanse looking for the WMD. Here are a few things that I would love them to include:
* Is Dax old enough to make an appearance?
* Does Q have anything to do with the creation of the Expanse?
* Background on how the Federation was formed.
* Glimpse at how future conflicts arose e.g. Cardassians/Bajorans, how did the Borg evolve – were they once humanoid but took technology one step too far?
* The social and economic changes that occurred on Earth e.g. how did they come to stop using money, is it a planned economy?
* Give Archer decent villains to go up against the Xindi don’t really scare in the same way Cardassians (esp. Gul Dukat), Borg or The Dominion did.

I have a sore throat and the start of a cold, which I am putting down to all the talking I have had to do over the past when when registering with temping agencies and I am sure the germs came from – shock horror mixing with people. See, when I am left to my own solitary devices in the flat I don’t get sick!!!! Go, isolation!!!!
Sunday, saw the Aquila Theatre company’s version of ‘Agamemnon’. The staging and costumes were fab. But, I felt that the 3 leads (Clytaemnestra, Agamemnon and Cassandra) hammed it up so much that it was more of a comedy than tragedy. Cassandra came across as a distant cousin of Bubble from Ab Fab. The translation used was rather flat and simple, the poetry and imagery in the text was lost.
I felt the translation they used ‘dumb’ down the poetry and xxxxx.
Last night Alex and I saw John Williams conduct the NY Philharmonic in ‘The Art of Score’. It was truly magical – hearing and watching a live orchestra was such a treat. I am still bowled over by all the bows moving in sync
Off to feel sorry for myself and gargle with the left over Christmas sherry….
